This article show the way to fill in the tube with gutta, empty and clean it after guttapassing.
Materials and tools you need:
glass tube;
SERTI N / SERTI EAU gutta;
ESSENCE F for diluting solvent gutta, for cleaning the glass tube after guttapassing;
WATER for diluting waterbased gutta, for cleaning the glass tube after guttapassing;
small medicine rubber balloon / rubber pear (I use the rubber balloon WITHOUT plastic cone /spout).
Also you have to prepare:
small glass pot with the cover to save diluted gutta separately from not deluited gutta yet; glass pot for ESSENCE F / WATER to rinse the tube after guttapassing;
stick to mix SERTI N / SERTI EAU + ESSENCE F / WATER in a pot ( I use wooden stick for manicure);
fabric to clean the stick.
Prepare the gutta of consistency you need for your painting.
Put SERTI N / SERTI EAU Dupont’s product in a pot (better to use small glass pot with a cover to be able to save your diluted gutta for next painting, or in case long guttapassing for refreshing adding gutta in your tube), adding ESSENCE F / WATER little by little, mix it thoroughly with a stick. Wait till all small bubbles disappeared.
Prepare the glass tube. It has to be clean and absolutely DRY!
Check if the edge of the spout is ok, glass not damaged etc.
Let’s make our base construction, let’s JOIN CORRECTLY RUBBER BALLON + GLASS TUBE.
And let’s call it THE JOINT
in a further.
Take the rubber balloon. Put the rubber's spout directly inside the back side of the glass tube. The rubber has to fit pressurized air-tightly to the glass edge of the tube!
Press the balloon with fingers, we will use VACUUM effect, providing :
SUCKTION the GUTTA UP INSIDE to the glass tube FILLing IN THE TUBE;
PUSHing the
GUTTA OUT of the tube TO EMPTY THE TUBE.
To FILL IN THE TUBE:
Take the JOINT, put the fingers on the pear, press the balloon till it becomes flat and empty of air. Immerse the glass spout into the gutta and at this very moment start to weaken the pressure onto the balloon >> let the air coming to your balloon hauling the gutta up to the tube. You will see that gutta coming up to the tube.
Fill in just the tube’s glass balloon. No need to fill more.
TO EMPTY THE TUBE:
After finishing your guttapassing take the tube with the rest of gutta in it, add the balloon making THE JOINT, control air-tight fitting. Press the balloon inside with your fingers, wait till the gutta flows out from spout. Empty it till the rest into your pot for diluted gutta.
TO CLEAN THE TUBE after SOLVENT GUTTA:
We will also use VACUUM effect to clean the tube. But this time we will SUCK ESSENCE F instead of the gutta to rinse the tube after guttapassing.
Take the JOINT, put the fingers on the pear, press the balloon till it becomes flat and empty of air. Immerse the glass spout into the pot with ESSENCE F and at this very moment start to weaken the pressure onto the balloon >> let the air coming to the balloon sucks the ESSENCE F UP INSIDE to the empty tube. Do it very slowly. Fill in the tube with essence F. Waite for a second till ESSENCE F starts melting the gutta remains.
Then push the balloon and let the ESSENCE F squeeze out from the spout. Till the tube becomes empty. Do it very slowly!
Rinse again, filling the tube with ESSENCE F and empty it, repeat until the glass becomes clean of gutta remains. Dry the tube from ESSENCE F before the next guttapassing.
TO CLEAN THE TUBE after WATERBASED
GUTTA:
We can rinse the tubes after waterbased gutta easily with warm water under the tap. Or using the same as we did with the solvent gutta with a balloon vacuum effect . Up to you to choose the best and comfort way to care for your tube.
